About
Fertility Center of Miami has treated patients in South Florida since 1991. This page covers its Kendall campus at 8950 N Kendall Drive; the same practice also runs a Miami Beach office, and the physicians rotate between the two, so patients seen in Kendall have access to the full team and the clinic’s embryology laboratory.
The center is led by board-certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) specialists — Fernando Akerman, Farah Chuong and Edward Illions — supported by an in-house embryology team and a women’s-health nurse practitioner. Bloodwork and hormonal testing are handled on site rather than sent to an outside lab. Care is offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and international patients can open with a Skype or telephone consultation before traveling.
The clinic’s founders are credited with several South Florida firsts: the region’s first egg-donor program, its first PESA (percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration) pregnancy, and its first blastocyst-stage pregnancy.
Success rates. Fertility Center of Miami is a SART member and reports its cycles to the society, but SART’s public clinic registry does not publish a clinic-level outcome table for this record, and our sources carry no independently verified CDC live-birth percentages we can attribute to it. Rather than post unconfirmed figures, this page leaves the age-bracket success-rate fields blank; ask the clinic directly for the latest outcome data it is willing to share.
Accreditations & Awards
The center lists membership in the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). It carries no CAP or JCI laboratory accreditation on its public pages, and — as noted above — SART CORS publishes no clinic-level outcome report for this record.
Why Choose This Campus
- Physician-led cycle care — dual board-certified REI specialists supervise stimulation, retrieval and transfer rather than handing off after the consult.
- In-house laboratory — hormone panels and embryology work are done on site, shortening the monitoring-to-retrieval window for Kendall-area patients.
- Advanced genetics and surgical options — PGT-A, assisted hatching and vitrification sit alongside laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, with reconstructive surgery for tubal disease, endometriosis and fibroids.
- A second location, same team — the Kendall office extends the Miami Beach practice’s specialists to the Doral, Kendall and southwest-Miami patient base.
- Multilingual access — appointments in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with remote first consultations for international patients.

Fees & Packages
There is no published price list. The clinic’s public pages carry no figures for cycle fees, medication, donor programs or financing, so prospective patients should request current costs directly from the practice.
Patient Journey
- Consultation — new and international patients can begin with a Skype or telephone consult.
- Evaluation — hormonal panels, semen analysis and genetic carrier screening establish the diagnosis.
- Protocol design — a stimulation plan is set from the test results.
- Stimulation & monitoring — injections with ultrasound and lab follow-up in the same building.
- Retrieval & transfer — egg retrieval, ICSI/fertilization and culture, then fresh or frozen transfer.
- Pregnancy test — bloodwork roughly 10-14 days after transfer, with early-scan coordination.
International patients: a standard IVF cycle typically needs about 10-20 days in Miami; a PGT-A cycle shortens the first stay, with a 3-4 day return for the frozen transfer.
Local Legal Framework
Florida governs assisted reproduction through state statute rather than a single dedicated ART act. Egg donation is permitted, and gestational surrogacy is expressly recognized under Florida Statutes Chapter 742, which sets out how intended parents are established on the birth order. The clinic operates donor-egg, donor-sperm and gestational-surrogacy programs within that framework; patients should confirm the current statutory language with the clinic and independent counsel before treatment.
