About RMA of New York Downtown Brooklyn
RMA of New York Downtown Brooklyn is a full-service fertility center at 430 Albee Square, on the second floor in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. It brings the complete IVF cycle—ovarian stimulation, monitoring, egg retrieval, embryo culture, and transfer—into the borough, so patients from Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island no longer have to commute into Manhattan for treatment. The center has served Brooklyn for more than a decade.
The practice is the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) division of the Mount Sinai Health System’s Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science, and its physicians hold faculty appointments at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Since 2001, the RMA of New York network has grown to more than a dozen locations and multiple IVF laboratories across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, and Long Island, supporting tens of thousands of births for patients from over a hundred countries.
What sets the Brooklyn site apart is its on-site laboratory. Patients can complete an entire cycle in-borough, and the embryology work is held to the same standard as RMA’s Manhattan flagship. Cycle outcomes are reported to SART and the CDC under the RMA of New York network entity, which completed 7,331 cycles in 2023 with a 53.7% cumulative live-birth rate per intended egg retrieval for patients under 35—above the national average at every age band.
Accreditations & Awards
RMA of New York is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading reproductive medicine centers, with more than 25 years of clinical results behind it. Physicians across the network are regularly named to New York Magazine Super Doctors and Castle Connolly Top Doctors. At the Downtown Brooklyn site, Dr. Jovana Lekovich has been listed among NYT Super Doctors every year since 2018, and Drs. Robert Setton and Tia Jackson-Bey have received New York Rising Stars and Castle Connolly recognition. As the Mount Sinai REI division, the center also carries academic medicine and translational research alongside day-to-day patient care.
Why Choose RMA of New York Downtown Brooklyn
- Full-service IVF lab inside Brooklyn. The center runs its own embryology laboratory, so retrieval and transfer happen in-borough. You are not shipped between clinics for the lab work, and the lab standard matches RMA’s Manhattan sites.
- Mount Sinai academic medicine. Attending physicians are Icahn School of Medicine faculty, which pairs evidence-based protocols with access to the research and subspecialty depth of a major academic health system.
- Live-birth rates above the national average. Per the SART 2023 network report, cumulative live birth per intended retrieval is 53.7% under 35, 42.3% at 35–37, and 30.4% at 38–40—each ahead of the corresponding U.S. average.
- In-house reproductive surgery. The team performs hysteroscopic and laparoscopic reproductive surgery and pelvic medicine, so fibroids, endometriosis, and uterine or pelvic factors can be addressed without referring you elsewhere.
- Inclusive family building. Individualized paths are offered for LGBTQ+ patients, single parents, donor-egg and gestational-surrogacy cases, and patients who need rabbinically supervised (Halacha) protocols.

Fees & Packages
RMA of New York does not publish a fixed price list. Cycle costs vary with the protocol, medications, and any add-ons such as PGT-A or freezing, and the center provides a written estimate during the new-patient consultation. New York’s amended insurance law requires most large-employer group health plans to cover IVF, so bring your benefits details to your first visit and the financial team will review what your plan applies to. Contact the hospital for current pricing and financing options.
Patient Journey
- A new-patient coordinator schedules your first visit and you meet a Downtown Brooklyn reproductive specialist to review your history, assess fertility, and define your family-building goals.
- You complete fertility testing—ovarian reserve, age, medical, and genetic factors—and the team designs an individualized treatment plan.
- Treatment cycles run in-borough: stimulation and monitoring at this location, with fertilization, culture, and PGT handled in the on-site embryology laboratory.
- Embryo transfer is performed here. If you are preserving fertility, eggs, embryos, or sperm are frozen first and transferred at a later date.
- Donor-egg, surrogacy, donor-sperm, and Halacha-supervised programs are coordinated by a dedicated team that handles contracts and medical logistics.
- After treatment, the center provides follow-up and early-pregnancy support. Consultations can be booked in person or online.
Local Legal Framework
The Downtown Brooklyn center operates under New York State reproductive law. IVF, egg and sperm donation, and gestational surrogacy are all legal in New York. Since the Child-Parent Security Act took effect in 2021, intended parents can establish legal parentage through a compliant gestational-surrogacy agreement, and egg and embryo donation require written informed consent. New York’s amended insurance law requires most large-employer group plans to cover IVF treatment. Surrogacy contracts, donor arrangements, and parentage determinations should follow current New York statute and independent legal counsel.
