About

About Superior A.R.T.

Superior A.R.T. (Centre for Assisted Reproductive Technology and Preimplantation Genetic Testing) was established in 2007 in Bangkok by a group of Thai infertility specialists in collaboration with leading Australian ART providers. The centre’s core technology and laboratory protocols were transferred from Australia as a complete package — an unusual lineage among Thai fertility clinics.

It opened in the Bhakdi Building and moved to Vanit Building II in Ratchathewi in 2013, expanding to more than 2,000 square metres (official corporate milestones). The centre has built two in-house laboratories — embryology and genetics — so genetic testing is performed on site rather than outsourced. The embryology laboratory is led by Duangsamon Leangkonkit (B.Sc.) and the genetics laboratory by Kasorn Tiewsiri (Ph.D.); the clinical director is Nisarath Soontrapa (M.D.).

The centre has expanded its model abroad early: a Superior A.R.T. branch in Yangon, Myanmar (2012), the Nakornthon Fertility Center (2014), and co-establishment of the Yangon Victoria Fertility Center (2019). Per figures published on its official website, Superior A.R.T. has helped more than 15,000 couples from over 40 countries and has screened for more than 200 genetic disorders; its technology-milestone chart records over 1,000 cycles and 80+ genetic disorders screened between 2007 and 2020.

Success rates (official website data)

Per the centre’s own charts (revised September 2024, metric: pregnancy rate per transfer):

  • Frozen embryo transfer (FET) pregnancy rate by age at egg retrieval: under 30 — 73%, 30–34 — 73%, 35–39 — 77%, over 40 — 72%. The centre notes that women over 40 who transfer a genetically tested normal embryo have pregnancy rates not significantly different from the 30–34 group — the basis of its emphasis on PGT.
  • Laboratory metrics: fertilization rate 78%, day-3 cleavage rate 80%, blastocyst rate 66%, blastocyst biopsy rate 79%, blastocyst thaw survival rate 99%.
  • PGT pregnancy rate per transfer: PGT-A by NGS 74%; combined PGT-M/A using Karyomapping 79%.

These are per-transfer pregnancy rates, not live-birth rates per retrieval cycle, and individual results vary by age and embryo chromosome status.

Why Choose Superior A.R.T.

  • PGT as a routine in-house service, not a send-out test: with its own genetics laboratory, the centre completes sampling, biopsy and reporting on site for PGT-A, PGT-M/A (including Karyomapping) and PGT-SR — shortening turnaround and reducing chain-of-custody risk
  • A documented technology-generation timeline: FISH & PCR (2007) → CGH (2012) → NGS + PCR (2015–2016) → Karyomapping (2020), each upgrade backed by a first-in-region clinical case
  • Modern embryo culture: GERI time-lapse incubators since 2017 and a published 99% blastocyst thaw survival rate (official website, 2024)
  • Australian technology transfer: core laboratory systems and culture protocols transferred from Australia, with a long-standing AustCham membership
  • Reproductive endocrinology plus minimally invasive surgery on one team: clinical director Nisarath Soontrapa is a reproductive endocrinologist, and Sasikan Tangthasana (M.D.) is a widely regarded laparoscopic surgery specialist in Thailand’s medical community, so endometriosis and intrauterine adhesions can be treated without referral
  • Complete surgical support in-house: three urological surgeons perform PESA/TESE sperm retrieval and two anesthesiologists cover egg retrieval and surgical cases — no external hospital needed
  • Multilingual patient care: English, Chinese and Thai services, with international patient coordination

IVF & Fertility Services

  • Infertility evaluation: hormone testing, ovarian reserve assessment (AMH), semen analysis, imaging
  • IUI (intrauterine insemination)
  • IVF / ICSI, supported by sperm-selection techniques such as MACS and pICSI
  • Preimplantation genetic testing: PGT-A for aneuploidy, PGT-M for single-gene disorders, combined PGT-M/A by Karyomapping, PGT-SR for chromosomal rearrangements
  • Fertility preservation: elective egg freezing, sperm freezing, embryo vitrification
  • Frozen embryo transfer (FET) including endometrial preparation protocols
  • Sperm retrieval surgery: PESA / TESE
  • Other services: genetic counselling and carrier screening, NIPT non-invasive prenatal testing, Embryo Glue transfer medium, hysteroscopy, pregnancy testing and follow-up

Patient Journey

Based on the centre’s Treatment Journey, First Appointment and IVF Process pages:

  1. Online booking: submit the appointment form with name, phone and contact (WeChat or Line ID accepted) and select the service; international patients can start with a remote phone consultation
  2. First appointment: bring prior test records and medical history; consultation with a reproductive endocrinology specialist
  3. Infertility evaluation: hormone panel, ovarian reserve, semen analysis and imaging to identify the cause
  4. Personalized stimulation plan: controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) with follicle monitoring, tailored to age, reserve and hormone levels
  5. Egg retrieval and sperm collection: ultrasound-guided OPU under anesthesia supervision; for male-factor cases, PESA/TESE is scheduled in the same cycle by the in-house urology and anesthesia team
  6. Fertilization and blastocyst culture: IVF or ICSI in the on-site embryology laboratory, cultured to blastocyst; if PGT is planned, embryos are biopsied and tested by NGS in the in-house genetics laboratory
  7. Transfer and pregnancy test: fresh or frozen embryo transfer (Embryo Glue available), followed by blood HCG testing and early pregnancy follow-up

Eligible patients: Thai legislation and regulations require that IVF procedures be provided only to a married heterosexual couple (the centre’s English FAQ notes de-facto or common-law marriage is recognized only where the patients’ home-country law provides for it). Verify your marital status documentation with the centre before booking.

Surrogacy: Thai law allows surrogacy only under very strict conditions, and Superior A.R.T. states explicitly in its official FAQ that it does not provide or facilitate any surrogacy services, per its medical director and company policy.

Egg donation: permitted under specific conditions with ethics approval through a medical committee, per the Reproductive Technology Protection Act B.E. 2558 (2015) framework.

Embryo genetic testing: PGT-A, PGT-M and PGT-SR are legal in Thailand; the centre states it uses them for medical purposes only.
