About RMA of New York East Side

RMA of New York East Side, at 635 Madison Avenue (10th floor, between 59th and 60th Streets), is the flagship location of RMA of New York and the home of the group’s embryology laboratory and IVF operating rooms. The lab spans over 8,000 square feet with 13 incubators and 5 dedicated IVF rooms, making it one of the largest IVF laboratories in the world - among only a few labs worldwide with dedicated rooms and equipment for IVF and PGT (preimplantation genetic testing). It handles over 7,000 IVF cycles per year.

RMA of New York was founded in 2001 by Dr. Alan B. Copperman and partners and has grown to 14 clinics and 4 IVF laboratories, helping bring over 25,000 babies into the world. The East Side location is open seven days a week for cycle monitoring. As the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science for the Mount Sinai Health System, the clinic’s physicians are faculty members at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

According to the SART 2023 Final Clinic Summary Report, RMA of New York (group-wide) completed 7,331 intended egg retrievals, with cumulative live birth rates per intended retrieval of 53.7% under 35, 42.3% at 35-37, 30.4% at 38-40, 15.5% at 41-42, and 4.4% over 42.

Reproductive medicine in New York State is regulated by the NY State Department of Health, and clinics and laboratories must meet CLIA/CAP accreditation requirements. New York is a leading state for IVF insurance coverage: the 2020 amendment to NY Insurance Law requires most large employer group plans to cover IVF diagnosis and treatment, and medically necessary egg freezing may also be covered. The Child-Parent Security Act (2021) legalized gestational surrogacy agreements. LGBTQIA+ family building is legally protected in New York State.

I had a wonderful experience with Amy when she drew my blood at RMA. She was incredibly caring and attentive from the moment I sat down. She asked which arm I preferred, constantly checked in on me to make sure I was comfortable, and was…...

Horribly traumatic experience with the team here. And after all of it, over 85% of the viable eggs that were produced didn’t make it to being embryos (I just have 1). Am I unlucky, or is it because this place is useless and money hungry? Judging by their inability to answer phone calls, correctly schedule appointments, properly communicate, I’m thinking it’s the later. Go anywhere else if you value your wellbeing. I already spoke to management, and they were like “sorry you feel that way.” I can’t imagine a worse experience.

This facility is absolutely terrible. From our very first visit, we waited over 2 hours to be seen after being checked in by the front desk. We were told that the reason for the wait was because, "It was busy." Are you kidding? Why else do you have a business in the first place. The whole point is to have your office filled but also to be able to have the proper business workflow to accommodate your growing needs. Additionally, everytime we had a question regarding the insurance coverage, it would take weeks and or months to get an answer. Usually, this was due to RMA improperly filing the wrong insurance paperwork from the beginning. And God forbid you change insurance companies with this company. They'll just bill your current procedures to your old insurance company even after giving them your new insurance information. This would not be a big deal until you have to call RMA's billing department over the course of 6 months to tell them repeatedly, that they billed the wrong insurance company and you should not continue to be billed. If that wasn't enough, after paying a fairly large bill which we were well within the appropriate time frame to do so, we started to receive text messages from a debt collector well after we paid the outstanding bill. It's as if RMA really only cares about making money or they truly have the worst business transparency you'll ever see. I would say it's both. Don't be fooled by their brand, go somewhere else for your IVF needs.

Grateful for so much love, care, and persistence from Dr. Romanski over the past few years -- he truly made our dreams come true. You would be so lucky to be in his care! Wonderful team of support as well.

They overcharge you all the time by “mistake.” Moreover I’ve been trying discard my sample and they do not respond or help!!! They keep saying someone will reach out and no one does.

I have very mixed feelings about my egg freezing experience with RMA New York and Dr. Lucky Sekhon. From a numbers perspective, my cycle was extremely successful — I had 49 eggs retrieved and 37 mature eggs frozen — and I want to acknowledge that I am grateful for that outcome. However, I think it’s important for women considering egg freezing to understand that a strong retrieval result does not necessarily mean a great overall patient experience. Throughout the process, I felt like the focus was almost entirely on the end result (number of eggs retrieved) and not enough on me as a patient. I was told I was a great candidate, but I do not feel I was adequately prepared for what recovery could look like for someone who responded as strongly to stimulation as I did. After retrieval, I had a much harder recovery than expected, including significant bloating/distension, rapid weight gain, shortness of breath, and feeling unlike myself for an extended period of time. Despite this, there was essentially no proactive follow-up beyond a brief phone call. When I reached back out because I still felt off, I felt my concerns were brushed aside rather than being offered an appointment or a more thorough evaluation. Egg freezing is an expensive, emotional, and physically demanding process. I understand that clinics measure success by outcomes, and I am thankful for my frozen eggs, but patients are more than their retrieval numbers. My biggest disappointment was feeling like once the procedure was complete, the care relationship was essentially over. For such a significant investment and such a personal medical decision, I expected more support, transparency, and follow-through. I’m sharing this not to discourage anyone from freezing their eggs, but to encourage others to ask questions about the entire process — including recovery and aftercare — not just success rates.

Terrible communication, coordinators and nurses respond late on time sensitive questions. It’s always a min 45 min wait for an appointment, even as simple as bloodwork. I’ve only spoken to my doctor twice in this process. I originally froze…...

My wife waited for over 2.5 hours to be seen for 5 min. Grossly understaffed and over scheduled.
